Jean Currie

Director to Dec/21

Born and raised in Saskatoon, Jean has been involved in singing and choirs all her life. Her mother was an accomplished pianist and singer and Jean remembers playing musical games with her when she was a young child.

She is extremely grateful for the many other musical experiences she has had through church, private lessons and school, both elementary and secondary. She was also a member of the Greystone Singers at the University of Saskatchewan.

With an upbringing in the Royal Conservatory of Music, she competed regularly at the Saskatoon Music Festival, in both piano and voice. Having spent the majority of her teaching career with the Saskatoon Public School Division teaching Kindergarten, Jean regularly used song both to entertain and to teach her young learners.

Jean is an original member of Solstice and she still enjoys the challenge of singing vocal jazz harmonies.

Jean believes in the power of music to challenge the mind, to unite people and to bring peace to the soul.
