The Notations

History

The Notations is an ensemble of youth and young adult singers, some of whom are “graduates” of Kids of Note. Directed by Jean Currie, they perform on their own and also join Kids of Note in concert. Jean has been directing the group since 2015, when founding director, Diane Phillips, moved over to direct Kids of Note for two years. We are so pleased that when Diane announced her retirement, Jean decided to stay on as the official director!

The Notations - Diane shares a laugh

Diane Phillips shares a laugh with The Notations

The Notations began in September of 2009 when some of the older Kids of Note members needed a more age-appropriate group. Diane volunteered to lead them! Without that offer, starting The Notations would have been a huge challenge. In the fall of 2014 Diane began to receive payment for her work, which is a good sign! Our choirs are becoming financially stable and we hope to be around for a long time to come.

The group’s name was chosen in the Spring of 2010 after much input from the choristers in the new ensemble, as well as members of Kids of Note and all of their families. In the Spring of 2015 we launched our own logo, designed by Ian Thayer:
